MOHALI: More than one-and-a-half months after he was booked for allegedly attempting to shoot at his wife, Punjab Police DSP Atul Soni is yet to be arrested.
Police have been making claims that they are on their toes to catch him, but the DSP continues to remain elusive.
Sources said Soni's wife was questioned last week. "We had raided the Sector 68 house of the DSP.

His wife Sunita Soni was there and she told us that her husband was planning to move the Supreme Court. She claimed she has not been in touch with him," said a police official. A court in Mohali on January 21 had rejected Soni's anticipatory bail petition. On January 24, he moved the Punjab and Haryana high court, which stayed his arrest. However, on January 31, the court rejected his petition. The Mohali police had even issued a look out circular against him.
One of the cops told TOI that the fugitive DSP had earlier visited Mumbai and held talks with a Bollywood director for a role in a movie.
The DSP, who has been losing followers on Instagram since he was booked, was active on social media and even uploaded a poster of his Punjabi movie, 'Jagga Jagravan Joga', on February 6. Rupinderdeep Kaur, deputy superintendent of police, cyber crime, said "We had sent an email to Instagram as well as Facebook officials to block his accounts. It generally takes around 25 days for the social media companies to revert back." Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said, "The investigation is under way."
